Last week, we hosted our inaugural Alumni and Staff Cricket match.

It was wonderful to welcome a wide spectrum of Old Hitcheans back to play against current staff, some of whom were not sure where their loyalties lay, given that they are Old Hitcheans themselves. We had members of our Class of 1992 returning to the crease with the same pride they held decades ago, playing alongside the young men who left our gates just this summer, stepping up as our newest Hitchin Men.

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who came down to play, support and share in the day. We owe a special debt of gratitude to Richard Brice (OH 66–72), the Chairman of Somerset CCC, who kindly donated the match balls for the day. His donation was a wonderful gesture that bridged fifty years of our community.

The connection to this place, and to each other, does not end when you walk out of the gates. To all our Old Hitcheans who wish to hear the familiar sounds of leather on willow on the Main Field, we are already looking forward to welcoming you back to the crease next year.
